Ingredients
Scale
- 2 lbs. ground beef
- 2 oz. taco seasoning mix (I use cholua medium taco seasoning (two packs))
- 1 1/2 cups water (use the amount of water the packets calls for)
- 16 oz. cream cheese (softened (two 8-oz. pkgs.))
- 16 oz. salsa
- 8 oz. shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 Roma tomato (diced)
- 2 green onions (sliced)
- tortilla chips
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium high heat, add the ground beef and cook until browned, crumbling it as it cooks. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in the taco seasoning packets with the corresponding amount of water (around 1 1/2 cups total).
- Simmer until the sauce thickens, then set aside.
- Spread the softened cream cheese evenly on the bottom of the slow cooker.
- Layer the thickened taco meat over the cream cheese, followed by the salsa.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheese on top.
- Cook on HIGH for approximately 1 1/2 hours or until bubbly.
- Serve with tortilla chips and enjoy!
Notes
Feel free to adjust the spice level with different salsa or seasoning.
This dip can be made ahead of time and kept warm in the slow cooker for parties.
For added freshness, garnish with extra diced tomatoes and green onions before serving.
