Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb (2 sheets) Puff Pastry, Thawed
- 1 tbsp Butter
- 3 medium Apples (Peeled, Cored & Diced)
- 1/4 cup Brown Sugar
- 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
- 1 tbsp Flour
- 1 Egg + 1 tbsp Water
- 1/2 cup Powdered Sugar
- 1–2 tbsp Milk
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F. While the puff pastry thaws, prepare the apple filling.
- Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add the diced apples and cook until softened, stirring occasionally.
- Lower the heat and mix in the brown sugar and cinnamon. Let it simmer for 3 minutes until the apples are soft and caramelized. Remove from heat and allow to cool.
- Dust a counter with flour and roll the first sheet of thawed puff pastry into an 11' square. Cut into 4 equal squares. Add the cooled apple mixture to half of each square, leaving a 1/2' border.
- Combine the egg and water to create the egg wash. Brush it lightly on the edges of the pastry to seal, then crimp the edges with a fork.
- Repeat the rolling and filling process with the second sheet of puff pastry.
- Place the turnovers on a parchment-lined baking sheet, spacing them at least 1' apart. Cut 2-3 small slits in the top of each to prevent leaking during baking.
- Brush the tops with egg wash and bake in the preheated oven for 20-22 minutes, or until they are golden and puffed up.
- To prepare the glaze, mix the powdered sugar with milk until you reach your desired consistency. Drizzle it over the warm turnovers.
Notes
For a richer flavor, consider adding raisins or nuts in the apple filling.
