Ingredients
- 6 tablespoons (84g) unsalted butter, sliced
- 1 cup (200g) packed brown sugar
- ½ cup (118ml) heavy whipping cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, or vanilla bean paste
- ½ teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
- Add brown sugar and heavy whipping cream once the butter is melted, stirring until it reaches a boil.
- Let it boil without stirring for 3 minutes.
- Remove from heat and mix in vanilla extract and salt.
- Pour the sauce into a jar and allow it to cool before covering.
- The sauce will thicken as it cools; if refrigerated, it will turn into a soft solid. To reheat, microwave for about 30 seconds and stir before use.
Notes
Store the cooled sauce in an airtight jar in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
For a richer flavor, consider using vanilla bean paste instead of extract.
Adjust the cooking time slightly if you prefer a thinner sauce.
