Ingredients
Scale
- 2 lbs raw peanuts in shells
- ¼ cup salt
- water
Instructions
- Rinse and soak the peanuts: Sort through the raw peanuts to remove any debris. Rinse them thoroughly and soak in cold water for 30 minutes, then drain.
- Add to the crockpot: Place the soaked peanuts in the slow cooker and add salt. Cover with water, leaving about an inch of space at the top.
- Cook low and slow: Set the crockpot to high and cook for approximately 7½ hours or until the peanuts reach your desired tenderness.
- Taste and adjust: Halfway through cooking, taste a peanut. If more salt is needed, add it and stir the mixture.
- Monitor the water level: If the water dips below the peanuts, add more to keep them fully submerged while cooking.
- Drain and serve: Once the peanuts are tender and well-seasoned, drain them. Enjoy warm or store for later snacking.
Notes
Feel free to adjust the salt according to your taste preferences.
Peanuts can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week.
For a spicier kick, consider adding pepper or spices during cooking.
