  • Total Time: 8 hours
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 64 ounces whole milk
  • 4 ounces plain whole milk yogurt

Instructions

  1. Add milk to the slow cooker and set it to low until the milk reaches 180 ℉ (about 2-3 hours).
  2. Turn off and unplug the slow cooker and allow the milk to cool to 110 ℉ (about 2-3 more hours).
  3. Take ½ cup of the milk and whisk it together with the yogurt until smooth, then mix it back into the milk in the slow cooker until combined.
  4. Cover the slow cooker with a towel and leave it unplugged for 10-12 hours until the yogurt sets.
  5. Stir until smooth, then spoon into individual dishes or a large glass container, and refrigerate.

Notes

Ensure the milk cools to 110 ℉ before adding yogurt for best results.
The longer you let it set, the tangier the yogurt will be.
Homemade yogurt can be flavored with fruit or honey before serving.
